Another quick project yesterday. A Linde MIG 31 wire feeder I recently acquired lacked the wire inlet guide so I took the remaining piece of brass bar stock from my brake bulkhead fitting seat project http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=39646 and built one based on the smaller diameter Miller unit out of my MM200 and MM30A wire feeder. Not exactly the way Linde did it but a proven method just the same.Had to center drill (5/64") from both ends to get all the way thru. One end done, one to go. 15 degree taper cut on drive roll end (inset). As compared to smaller diameter Miller example used as basic 'pattern'.Guide installed. . .. . . and feeding wire. Thanks for looking.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:What wears first on those, the in feed/roll side or the out feed/drive side ? Good fix BTW. Reply:Inlet side - especially if the roll of wire is set too high/low on the tower for its size. This one has two positions that the roll can be mounted and the guide assembly can be rotated as needed for fine tuning. The guide was simply missing. Thanks for the kind words and I just wish I knew more about and had more experrience with machining and tooling. It probably doesn't help that the 'ol Enco is far from a 'precision' machine.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:What is the purpose of the stepdown area in the middle? BTW, your machinist capabilities are lightyears ahead of mine.

Reply:Luckily i have a whole drawer full of those but the LWS can usually get them for me in a semi reasonable amount of time.
