How would you clean this?

I have a Millermatic 200 that is new to me, It was apparently used in a paint shop at least there has been a deposit of paint like over-spray throughout the inside of the case. I can deal with the body putty but how do I clean up the crusty dusting of paint, or do I just leave well enough alone. It just looks like a dirty house.   thanks for your input, It makes me not want to show a picture.

Reply:It's all over inside the machine some one,some time, cleaned the top of the welder and there's no paint left on it just a rusty pitted shell the side paint is reasonably ok and the decals are still there. The inside though is like over-spray, When I tried to blow it out the cob webs and some dust went away but what was left was a pebble finish. I tried some electrical parts cleaner it just left it clean between the speckles.
Reply:If it's all covered by the outer sheet metal, who is gonna see it? As long as you leave the outer case on, only you know what it looks like under there anyway. If it functions correctly, that is the main thing. You got all the cobwebs and dust out, so your good there. Put the case back on before anyone else see's it, and get to welding stuff.
Reply:I guess I'm just to new and to sensitive I see these clean welders and read the pride of ownership. What can I expect for $250 I'll just close it up and enjoy. I think I got a good first welder.
Reply:why not take the body off and hit it with a wire wheel then respray it what ever color you like? everything else could probably be cleaned off with some scotch brite.

Reply:I saw that rebuild-paint turned out very nice, on mine the top of the sheet metal is about the same the sides a little better but inside all over the components it looks dusty. Yours looks pretty clean on the inside did you do anything besides blow it out with air.

Reply:OK just rub it in, I'm happy for your success and I'll just leave mine dusty. I'm in the process of modernising mine to have the polarity plugs on the face to do flux core, since all of my welding will be out doors. and my fan will never go off but the outdoors will swallow the noise. looking forward to my first welds.
