Can I change out the torch on my Snap-On YA2001. I found out that it was made by Century. It has been a good machine but the torch is hard to find tips for. Any ideas would be helpfull

Reply:That would be great, I am just trying to get a torch that is easier to get consumables.
Reply:I'll make a note of that. YA2001 model plasma, got it.  What about Arc-Zone?City of L.A. Reply:Hypertherm can probly build a torch to fit your plasma.  You might choke when you hear the price though.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Post a picture of the torch assembled, and another with the consumables out. Depending on the vintage it could be a Hypertherm torch....either the Max20, Max40 or Max100 as Hypertherm produced torches for Century for many years.Actually....I'm pretty sure it is a standard Hypertherm Max40 torch. Consumables are available from Hypertherm dealers or Centricut. Here is a link to the www.hypertherm.com  site that shows the Max40 high frequency start torch. You can use these part numbers to order the consumables from any Hypertherm dealer...local dealers can also be found on the Hypertherm web site under the find us tab.  https://www.hypertherm.com/library/f...n/TB_MAX40.pdf    Jim ColtLast edited by jimcolt; 04-27-2010 at 07:53 AM.
Reply:You can try contacting Daytona Mig.  They carry a lot of consumables for the rebadged plasmas, or may know where to source them.  I have a couple Blue Point/Matco machines that I go through them for.
Reply:HTP carries consumables for that rig as well.  Or you could swap out torches.   Weldmart carries a replacement torch that is a trafimet based torch whch offers fairly cheap consumables.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
Reply:Actually...if it is the Hypertherm Max40 torch...an old design but it is a decent torch, I would not recommend swapping it for another torch... and parts are available. It is a high frequency torch.Jim
Reply:I've seen this one with different torch styles, depending on when it was made. Its probably either a Hypertherm Max40 style torch:http://www.weldingdirect.com/mahystpa1.htmlor a Cebora P50 torch:http://weldingdirect.com/cep30plpa.htmlweldingdirect.com has parts for both, WAY less than SnapOn.
Reply:Thanks to everyone that replied, it turns out to be the same torch as the Max40. www.hypertherm.com has everything that I needed and I was able to place an order this morning. I live in the mountains of Colorado and if anyone near me has a TIG unit that I can aford I would like to talk to you as well. I dont care if it is old I would just like a single phase machine in working shape.
