Hi, i work in a company where i only do fitting and layout, reading dwgs, i went to school for that, and i like it like that, i don't want to weld, i learn to tack and i have the only certification i need for that, i work with mild steel only and sometime i work with stainless job that's just need to be layout for holes or stuff like that, maybe arround 4 or 5 times by years we have complete jobs that need to be fit and welded and polish in stainless, we have a guy who do the welding and the polish at night and a fitter like me have to cut all hes job and do the layout for him, im always thinking about the day i will move from this shop to another and work with more stainless, my questions is some of you know if shop where they make stainless for the same way like the fitter just do the tack weld with tig, and a real welder finnish the job, if some of you are familiar with that kind of job, tell me if you need to be a pro welder to only doing TIG tack welding on stainless, or someone like can juste learn the basic TIG and start fitting some stuff, im not talking about aviation job or pipe gas job here, just basic railling and iron work! i know some of you are really proud to be TIG welder but i prefer stay fitter, im pretty sure some TIG welder here recieved fitted job from a fitter who only know Tack weld with TIG !?Calculator > Bevel Square |
