Tig torch size question?

Im looking at buying at 2 piece tig torch so i can do alittle tigging with my hf 80 amp inverter. My question is will i be fine using a 150 amp tig torch? I noitced there other amp sizes that are lower such as a 125 amp. Will a 150 amp work or is that overkill for somthing thats manily going to be welding at max 80 amps. I saw a good deal on a 150 amp so thats why im asking. Also i like the 150 amp because once i buy a higher amp inveter i already got a 150 amp torch. Also would what size tungsten would you recomend? I was thinking 1/16 and 0.040 ThanksShane
Reply:I would recommend a WP-20, HW-20, etc. If you are water cooled, and going to do very much aluminum. I use .02 - .125 in mine, and have never had any trouble with them. This torch is also rated for up to 250 amps, just in case you find a good deal in a larger welder. If you know you will only be doing thin stuff, then an air cooled torch will be fine. Have Fun! John
Reply:I would get a wp-9v its small , air cooled,has a gas valve and its rated to 125A...its also the same physical size as  wp-20 and all the the rest of the parts are interchangeable The only issue I have with mine its it gets hot it you are using it for extended periods,Thats why I bought a wp-20 and a coolerFire Power FP160 migHarbor Freight 165 amp tig w/ foot pedalLincoln AC 225Victor O/A
Reply:I find a #17 torch air cooled will with stand ONE full lenth of filler rod before it gets too hot to hang onto.For 80 amps what ever is cheapest will work fine for you.  A #9 will not take as much heat, but is smaller to hang on to and easier to weld with than a #17.  Either one will weld just fine.  For 80 amps 1/16" is all you need for a tungsten.David Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
