Well I am big in to smoking meat and anything else I can think of so I am building a insulated vertical smoker. Here are some of the first pics I got. I will be doing more today on it and will update later. I did manage to get the top and bottom of the inner shell that you see here welded up yesterday as well. I must say i bought a hypertherm 30 to build some things and this is the first time really using it....what a great machine especially for the size of this little bugger. anyways thanks for lookinright here I had a problem with getting the mig dialed in for this weld. I think I figured it out so we will see on the next weld that is similiar. Any ideas?JerodHypertherm 30Miller Syncrowave 200Millermatic 140and a propane torch and hanger if all else fails
Reply:stumps clone?
Reply:Please keep the pics coming. I love smoked foods, meat, fish ect. I bought an electric smoker from Home Depot and tries ribs....... YUCK! I didn't marinate or anything, and I really screwed them up. Oh, and don't forget the step by step directions so I can be a copycat"Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:Not really. It will be like a stumps but this one will also be a "reverse" flow. It will be more apparent later in the build where I can show what I mean. If you notice the hole cut out is for the smoke stack not a charcoal feeder. Originally Posted by Nickosstumps clone?

Reply:Good to see a lot of smoke enthusiast here. I'll keep the pics coming the metal is just 18ga for the inside shell and 14ga for the outer shell...With the ceramic high temp 1" insulation in between the walls you don't need to go thick at all. And these baby's hum through all kinds of weather. Which I tend to get where I live.Later I will get more in depth with detail for ya. thanks for lookin. Reply:How about posting some "late night diner drawings" or regular ones if you have them.  I've built one or two, but mostly designed it in my head & on the fly.I have a huge wheel chair washing machine made out of about 14 gauge stainless that needs a new life......MarkI haven't always been a nurse........Craftsman 12"x36" LatheEnco G-30B MillHobart Handler 175Lincoln WeldandPower 225 AC/DC G-7 CV/CCAdd a Foot Pedal to a Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 165A DC TIG PapaLion's Gate Build

Reply:Had a little time today after all the weeks hussle and bussle. Started on the fire box/charcoal pan. Here are the pics. I have next week off so this should be done next weeksquaring up the bottombefore the top and sides are ontop on squared up and welded only thing left is the handles but those will be done after I do the doors..thanks for lookin !JerodHypertherm 30Miller Syncrowave 200Millermatic 140and a propane torch and hanger if all else fails
Reply:The build looks good so far.The insulation being used is the same stuff I use in my forge. I can get about 2300 degrees in the forge and with one inch of insulation I can touch the outside of the forge. It is hot but I can stand it so it is not that bad. On the smoker you could put a cold drink on top and it would not even warm up any faster than anywhere else.  Kinda pricey but good for this project.
Reply:Ya this stuff is great. someday I to will have a kilnJerodHypertherm 30Miller Syncrowave 200Millermatic 140and a propane torch and hanger if all else fails
Reply:Well I was able to work on the smoker for a couple hours today...It seemed like I didn't get much done but sometimes it's the way it goes. This is the bottom part just about done. I will make the smoke channel up the sides tomorrow and cap the top of what you see here. The water pan will be towards the end of the build I think. It should hold about 6 gallons of water. Well here are the pics and thanks for lookin.JerodHypertherm 30Miller Syncrowave 200Millermatic 140and a propane torch and hanger if all else fails
Reply:I got a little update here today. I have the smoke channels put together and will actually weld them in tonight. In these pics you can see how the channel will go up the side and then back down inside the cook chamber.smoke chamber shell sitting outside the smokertop of smoker when channels are in. Not welded yet so they look crookedstraight on viewthanks for lookinJerodHypertherm 30Miller Syncrowave 200Millermatic 140and a propane torch and hanger if all else fails

Reply:A couple quick pics...We actually got farther then this today but these are all the pics I got........in these you see the high temp insulation going in and the skin getting a good fit...All that is left is the back skin, smoke stack and front doors. Everything except the smoke stack should be done tomorrow. thanks for lookinJerodHypertherm 30Miller Syncrowave 200Millermatic 140and a propane torch and hanger if all else fails

Reply:Well the outside will get a couple coats of high temp paints and the inside will get good and seasoned with every smoke I do. The more I use it the better seasoned it will get. The first burn will be with a pam spray and then regular smokes from then on. I use my smokers about once a week so they get seasoned real quick.  Originally Posted by jtybtThat's a great design.
