I saw this on one of my other forums. Its probably the absolute worst craftsmanship I have ever seen. It literally looks like some monkeys put this thing together. Guy paid a fly by night shop 14k to swap a LS6 into his FD RX7, a year and a half later this is what he got.http://www.mx5atlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7408And since this is a welding forum I'll give you a littel pic of the "custom" stainless exhaust.
Reply:I wish you would ask permission before posting pictures up of my weldingFelonPs its not stainless its old used lead waterpipeCaution lurker lives here" hmmm That is serious, pass the ganja and pick up a  24 of MGD"
Reply:looks pretty good too me...........welders like that keep u pros in business.        thermal arc 252i  -  millermatic 350P -   miller XMT, cp300ts, 30a 22a feeders, buttload of other millers, handfull of lincolns, couple of esabs  -   Hypertherm 1250 G3

Reply:Is just me or did they use fluxcore wire?
Reply:Oh no it looks like Fluxcore.  If you going to use Vbands spring for the gas kit for your MIG!  geeezzz
Reply:I've welded stainless to mild on exhaust system before.... But mine at least looked good - that looks like a piece of dog ----I break things for a living...
Reply:Just put some foil tape on it and call it a day.
Reply:Nice.....   You don't see it anyway right.  Probably a good thing.
Reply:Forgive me for asking, but what are Vbands?Tim
Reply:A method of joining exhaust joints on cars.  The flanges are like "T-shaped" and this clamp joins the 2 flanges. Its a nice and easy way to dissasemble the exhaust system.
Reply:Honestly I think monkeys could do a better job.

Reply:V-bands... grab flare tapers on the end of both parts to draw the parts together. See Marman clamps (invented in the early 1940's, and produced by one of the Marx brothers... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marman_clamp).
Reply:that was a pretty nice car.
Reply:Nothing a good header wrap tape won't fix!     Welder should drummed out of the slag makers and kicked in the balls at sunrise!Last edited by kolot; 04-10-2010 at 11:02 PM."Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251   Syncrowave 300   30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200   1 short hood    SA250    SAM 400

Reply:I don't see what you guys are complaining about all that is left to do to that exhaust is chrome it! I mean come on guys don't you have any vision?AnthonyIt does make me feel good about the mess i made when i put my 3800 in my fiero, I was running low on cash so i just reused the stock muffler and welded up a bunch of pieces till it fit for now till i can get a new muffler then I'll also buy some mandrel bent curves to make it nice. but it still looks better then that junkTo many hobbies not enough Cash!!1951 Chevy 1 Ton 9' Pickup resto-mod V8 4x4 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT 3800 V6 ConversionESAB MIgmaster 250www.anthonysautoservice.com
Reply:Their is a ton of really crappy work done to that car. 14k giant mess. Who in the world would have given them that kind of money to that crap. Had the shop ever done anything beyond a oil change before? I bet they screwed that up as well.
Reply:Hmmmmm I can honestly say that my hair went up on end by seeing them pics... As someone who used to fit and customise exhausts it brought back memories of when I first started and having my arse kicked by the boss if one weld was off... I wanna know how this place is still operating?
Reply:They should have atleast watched this video before attempting this. Especially for 14k.
Reply:Wow, I have never seen such awful work in my life.  If I went to pick up my car and saw that people would have died......seriously, the shop that did that should have its doors chained shut and be set on fire with all who touched that car still inside!
Reply:Just galvanize it!!!
