Below is an open arc roundabout weld with E70-S3 wire on 4340AQ. I did several vids but this one shows someone was there before me with, "I think cold wire TIG".I picked this because the vid starts with an eye view and after the arc starts it shows welding lines in front of the weld for about 1/2 rotation (side away from original keyseat that was filled). I'm sure the pressure pipe guys that have repaired have seen similar but wider lines after cleaning and grinding. At about 2 1/2min it shows a #10 shade veiw and then back to eye view for the "hold bead and back step for temperbead".I pushed the parameters a bit to get under the 10min U-Tube limit sooo.... Process = Roundabout, .045"E70-S3 hard wire, sheild 83Co2/17Ar, WFS 190 IPM, Volts 21.5 and amps 185-195 and the travel speed is about 20-22IPM. The transfer is in the low end of globular or "mod globular". The torch angle is about 5-10º push and placement at 2:30CW. The shaft dia is 2.3" and the puddle length is about 1.25-1.5" before freeze. Total length of weld about 170-190 inches. The video shows a quiet bead.. It's not really that way. Pushing that much is spattery, glob moves the puddle around a lot and I'm not sure why it looks so steady and quiet...And NO you don't get to ask why I use an overlay that only is as 60% as strong as the parent material and weaken it more by using rich Co2... GO FISHMatt
