Galvanized Metal

Just started a job welding on cell phone towers everything is galvanized,anybody have any tips on using 7018 rods on galvinized metal,it is definatly tricky.
Reply:Canadian code requires removal for a set distance on each side of weld.  I am not sure for your AWS code.  Welding through zinc will not give you a sound structural weld with E 7018.
