Reply:ok, thank you! i also got stay silver white brazing flux. i didnt notice until i got home that it said brazing damn the things i do when im in a hurry. will this work for steel too? if not once again, i will still use it. ill just stop using the flux coated brazing rods. they suck.Millermatic 211weldpack 3200 squirtgunsquare wave 200victory journeyman kitHypertherm 30xptoo much other crap to listtinkerer extraordinaire

Reply:Tensaiteki,It was fun visiting your website. I am just about the reverse of you with many years of electronic design and fabrication in my past (worked in the field thru college) and now in my old age getting into welding.I especially enjoyed your adventures building the CNC boards and troubleshooting the motors. Brought back many memories ThanksDrBob-sorry if I hijacked this thread
Reply:Just a minor note. Tensaiteki did an excellent job of describing the characteristics of the different fillers available. To add, the copper coating you see on the ER 70-2 rod you have was added more to facilitate the manufacture of the wire than it was to "protect" the wire. The copper makes the wire easier to draw thru the forming dies when the rod is made. Reduces wear on the forming equipment. Extremely high grade, certified, tig rod will not have the copper coating. It's actually formed in a different process.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc. |
