Reply:Since you don't list an O/A set in your sig a Copper rose would probably be the easiest.http://www.shopfloortalk.com/forums/...highlight=roseEd Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge
Reply:Nope, no o/a setup. I have a heatgun and a small torch but that won't be enough I'm sure.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:I'd go buy a rose and take it apart.HammerFile Big Hammer------------------------------Here, let me Google that for you...
Reply:Just saw this in a catalog I got yesterday.Steel rose kit. I have no idea if it comes with instructions or just the materials, but for the price it might be worth it, even if you just save it for a pattern. ( If it was me even if I used the kit, I'd toss the parts on my copier and photo copy them as a pattern for later reference.)http://www.piehtoolco.com/contents/en-us/p10379.html.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Hey gamble, I made a flower recently out of some 22 gauge sheet steel. I intended to make a rose but it ended up looking like a tropical flower. I drew the shapes as I thought a flower petal might look flattened out. The ended up looking sort of like a bell. Then I put a ball peen hammer in a vice and started beating them in to shape over with a chasing hammer. Each petal pattern got smaller and smaller. I tacked them together, heated them to get some color and balled up some filler wire to for the little sprout thingys. I finished with a shot of clear coat. This is what it looked like.
Reply:If you dont have a torch use a cutting disc and cut apart an old muffler. The flat wrap is soft as butter for bending I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:The pattern that DSW shows the link to is also available on some of the blacksmithing sites. I used it. I found that the second and third and so on got easier and small changes were made. I have made them out of steel, copper, aluminum and brass sheet. It is more hammer work than anything. This is actually a good way to learn how to use a rounding hammer. If you don't have a rounding hammer a ball peen works but it will stretch the metal faster and with less control. You can soldier the copper or brass to the stem. Reply:After a few they get easy. If you have a band saw it makes it quick I have cut them with snips doubles the time. But with the pieces cut you can get it down to less than 30 minutes. They used to sell well. Depended on what they were made of and what finish they had. This is a good project to find out how heat and oil quenches can color steel. You can get enough heat for gauge steel out of charcoal to hammer your petals if you don't want to do it cold. There is another chance to add coloring as well with charcoal and bone."Liberalism is a mental disorder" Dr. Savage
