I have a miller bobcat 225, I also have a lincoln pro mig 135 for my smaller stuff. Having problems with the wire feed. Thinking about either buying a new miller 180 wire feed or buying a spoolgun for the bobcat. Never used a spoolgun or know anything about them. If I get a spool gun, will it weld aluminum and steel. Is it just a matter of changing the wire and gas or is there more to it. Any suggestions
Reply:to run a spoolgun off your 225 you willyou will need a wc115a $1012.50 and the 30a gun is $1090.00 you can get the new mm211 $970.00and the spoolmate 100 for $206.00 all most half and it run on 115 or 230
Reply:That is excellent advice by Ed Mac.To answer your question about welding steel or aluminum with the spool gun, yes, you can weld both. You will want to change to a teflon liner and either smooth u-groove or knurled groove drive rolls when you put the aluminum wire roll in the gun, u-groove is best. Use a steel liner and smooth v-groove drive roll with the steel wire. You can use a teflon liner with the steel wire but it will wear out quicker.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Your Bobcat should run a MM 211 just fine too if you need to use it remotely sometime.HH 187Miller Bluestar1EAHP AlphaTig 200X
