Any ideas on what to look for in repairing an old Lincoln welder which just lost the high frequency start? I can still Tig weld with it, if I drag the electrode on the metal and it welds good. I checked the spark gap in the cover in the front. any other ideas? Do you think this would be expensive to fix?THanksMark
Reply:Check for any grounding of HF components, more than likely it will be the HF capacitorCheers
Reply:I completely took out the contact points of the spark gap and scrapped and lightly sanded the surface. I put it together and set the gap. I did a quick test and looks like it works. I just need to do some more welding and see if is fixed for sure. Thanks. |
