Hey guys (and gals),I'm new to welding, recently got my self a Millermatic 140 so I could do a couple things on my car. Thing is, there's quite a bit of pitted surfaces on my strut towers. I have drilled out the spots and have removed the strut cap. The thickness of the caps are around 14 gauge and some areas are pitted pretty bad, around 20 gauge. I've grinded and flap wheeled the surface, so there's no rust left on it, just some concave surfaces on it. My question is, is it possible to run some beads up and down on the pitted surfaces and then grind it flush with the rest of the metal? Or would I have to cut out the pitted metal and weld in a patch? Thanks!
