I just hooked my miller hf-251d-1 high frequency arc starter & stabilizer along with my coolmate 4 up to my trailblazer 302. For some reason the high freq start won't work and I have to scratch start to every time. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong I'm welding steel using 3/32 red band 2% thoriated tungsten with a pointed tip. The machine is on electrode negative and tried with auto-crater and auto-stop and the ground is connected. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Reply:I'm using a foot pedal, and the hf start only works sometimes at points yes while set on continuous.
Reply:My apologies. I meant to say in PANEL not CONTINUOUS. If you get hih frequency in PANEL and only intermittently from the pedal in REMOTE then you need to check the pedal switch and 14-pin plug terminals and connections where the individual cable conductors are soldered to the pins. Also check the length of the foot pedal cable for damage/breaks.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:does that unit have points? Make sure the gap is set, & that the points aren't touching each other.Buy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line. |
