This problem happens with our new Syncrowave 250 but doesnt happen if we use our old welder (80's). As we have seen the old welder have less high frequency power, tugnsten almost must be in contact to part that it is welded but in the Syncrowave 250 can weld with distances over 1cm.Any idea?a) We dont know if Sycrowave 250 has some kind of potentiometer (internally because outside you cant control power of high frequency) or some way to increase/decrease high frequency. It seems that it is very high then affects our electronic system and it re-starts or freeze.b) How can we protect our electronic system from HF, protect them in metallic cabinets (grounded), to have independent earths for welding and electronics, have all system including earths in less than 15meters, to have all wires with out any connection and have them connected directly... all this has been done and it improves performance but we cant get a complete cycle, we can finish one and system is reset, later we cant complete 15 cycles and later we can finish 2 cycles, etc. etc.I really will apreciate your help, we have done everything and we have better results but we cant reach more than 5% of cylces properly finished. Reply:I don't know about the syncrowave, but I did learn some about my Everlast TIG welder's high frequency circuit, and posted the info in the thread below.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=35536Its high frequency circuit is essentially the circuit of a "Tesla coil".  It has an adjustable spark gap that I think has an affect on the high frequency and the max voltage.  (Although presumably, only enough voltage would build up as is necessary to jump the gap from electrode to the work piece.)
Reply:I know Miller has made several different versions of the syncrowave 250. My friends has a control for intensity but I think it is down where you connect your power cables under the front flap. One thing to check on both welders is the gap of the HF spark gap. Closing up the gap on the syncrowave might reduce the HF emmisions. You may want to check the condition of the point on that old 80's welder that one might be fixable to if the points are cleaned. -DanOwnerDW Metalworks LLCMiller Trailblazer 302Miller 8RC FeederMiller Passport PlusMiller Dynasty 200 DX W/Coolmate 1Hobart Handler 135Hypertherm PowerMAX 30Smith O/A Torch SetPlus much much more
Reply:A couple other things I just thoguth about. - Earth ground the case of the welder (most of the time the owners mannual tells you do to that anyways). Don't rely on the electrical ground from the power service. - twist the welding leads together as far as you can, this cancles out the noise being made. - Metal sheilds over long runs of wires on your machine. My stereo in my garage would mess up and crap out every time I trided to strike and arc and did not have my ground hooked up until I grounded the case on the radaio to an earth ground. -DanOwnerDW Metalworks LLCMiller Trailblazer 302Miller 8RC FeederMiller Passport PlusMiller Dynasty 200 DX W/Coolmate 1Hobart Handler 135Hypertherm PowerMAX 30Smith O/A Torch SetPlus much much more
Reply:Hi engnerdan,Unfortunately our Syncrowave do not have any intesity/power control of the HF, only we can choose to off/arc start/arc end/continue , maybe inside have something but we have not opened because of loose warranty.Thank you for your suggestions, I will do all of them, I hope it helps.
