Im having a tough time producing a nice bead with 6011 with my TA95. I know I need more practice. Burning rod is a lot of fun. These are all 3/32" rod on 1/4" plate. I watched the puddle and not the arc. With the 6011, it seemed that i needed to move very slow to keep the rod burning and the puddle going. I could see the arc burning into the metal. These 6 beads are run at 50,60,70,80,90 and 95 amps from top to bottom. These are 7018 beads at 70,80,90 and 95 top to bottom. What am I doing wrong?Last edited by Drf255; 06-18-2012 at 05:13 AM.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:You do know that a 6010/6011 bead will never look like a 7018 or anything else.
Reply:Looks normal for 6010/11run your 3/32 6010/11 around 65 amps and 3/32 7018 arpund 85-90 amps.I dont see any problems.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720

Reply:Because 6011 is a fast freeze rod, it'll always look rougher than 7018. Just the nature of the rod. Not bad lookin beads. http://www.philswelding.com
Reply:Typically 6011 is run at less amps than 7018, even if the rods are the same diameter.Always check the box for the amp ranges and polarity recommended by the manufacturer.Don't expect to be satisfied real soon.In the first picture, I like the second from the bottom best. And in the second picture, the third and fourth tie for best of the group, imho.City of L.A. Structural; Manual & Semi-Automatic;"Surely there is a mine for silver, and a place where gold is refined.
