New here. Looking for some ideas on how to mod this trailer---add fenders, spare tire mount, and ramp storage. Other stuff you might see that needs to be fixed please point it out. Bought a home built trailer about 6 mo. ago---main problem is in needed tires. So now it has new bias tires and will so have new wood. Attached Images
Reply:what is your intended use for the trailer? hauling equipment/atv's/or just having it for what ever needs to be moved in a trailer?
Reply:mainly equipment and tree limbs. Right now hauling scrap metal...so basic for what ever no one set use..
Reply:16 footer w/ 2 3500 axles that need the brakes hooked back up.
Reply:Stake body, really good for leaves and branches even big piles of odd metal and can remove if they get in the way. Clean rust and repaint. Maybe a set of detachable/fold up car ramps for scrapping cars that pays good you should be able to fit some smaller cars on there no problem. Winch for pulling objects onto trailer like dead cars.
Reply:Nice set of heavy duty fenders one of the guys on M715zone just did on his M715 truck are here:http://www.m715zone.com/vb/showthread.php?t=19441I think a similar design would look good on that trailer, just expanded out to cover the dual axles. I would also re-wire the trailer (I usually check and then end up having to rewire any old car/trailer that I get my hands on...only twice have I run across ones where the wiring wasn't rotted, poorly done, cut and spliced unsafely, etc...). I like the stakebed idea, would look good on that trailer, also keep things from flying out. Making a good ramp gate for the back might also be a good idea.--Wintermute"No man's knowledge here can go beyond his experience." - John Lockewww.improvised-engineering.comManufacturer Agnostic:Blood----------Sweat---------Tears----|------------------|----------------|----Lincoln Red, Miller Blue, Esab Yellow
Reply:The wiring is on my list after I get the brakes up and working. Plan to go to a 7 pin setup plug right in to the factory hitch setup. It came with a set of ramp--but their on the short side--need to build something to hold em under the trailer until I build a better set ie longer.
Reply:Fender that bad boy and give it a coat of black paint!Let's see the jack for it.
Reply:pic of the front end very old bull dog hitch--per seller

Reply:northern tools have a lot of trailer partsfenders are $60.00 Attached Images
Reply:Looks like the front metal is twisted. Does the trailer crab when towed?
Reply:not the best pic that is right after I got it home some of the tires went flat others just lost some rubber---not good I know but I only had to go 10 miles on a barely used country road only doing like 40. top rails are not straight ----something to do with how it was welded when built I guess? maybe po put too much weigh on the rails? |
