HiI bought this item on Ebay to start learning TIG and the manual isnt helpful about settings.Can somebody explain to me the settings avaiable on the machine, what are they for?I should start learning on mild steel. Attached Images

Reply:Lets see..First lever with 3 three options: Long pulse, short pulse and normal. (Not 100% sure on the pulse)Second lever with two settings: Switch between TIG and stick,First pot meter (peak current): This looks like a hot start feature or it might be to set the peak current while welding pulse.Second pot meter (base current): This is your actual welding current.Third pot meter (Frequenzy): This is to set the frequenzy while welding pulse.Fourth pot meter (fall time): This is your slope down, sets the ammount of time used to go from full current down to zero.
Reply:Starting with the top two toggle switches.First switch:Toggle down for constant current, no pulsing.Toggle middle for high range of pulse frequency, probably 10 to 200 pulses per second (pps).Toggle up for low range of pulse frequency, probably 0 to 2 pps.(pulse setting may not function in the stick mode).(% time at peak and background current is probably fixed at 50% for each).Second switch:Toggle down for stick welding..Toggle up for TIG welding.First dial:Peak current, 0 - 180 amps. When pulsing this is the high current pulse, set it to melt a spot of the desired size. For constant current this sets the current.Second dial:Base current, 0 to 100% of the peak current setting. When pulsing this is the low current pulse, generally set this low enough to allow the puddle from the high pulse to cool between pulses. Very low settings will exaggerate the "stack of dimes" look, and higher settings will approach constant current.Base current is not used in constant current mode.Third dial:Frequency Hz, this is the number of pulses per second (pps). Low settings like 0.5 or 1.0 allow very slow travel speed and exaggerated stack of dimes look. Higher frequencies will overlap the spots more, and is needed for higher speeds.Fourth dial:Fall time, 0 to 5 sec. This is the down slope time, the time during which the current tapers off and the arc shuts off after you let up on the foot pedal or torch switch. This helps fill the crater at the end of the weld to prevent shrinkage cracks.
