Just about finished up with my GTAW pipe welding.Decided to take the day and play around a little.Mixture of 3/32nd and 1/8th wire.Freehand on the side.Walking the cup on the top section.Any tips or pointers? Reply:The ones where you walkeed the cup look decent. Your free hand bead looks about 20 amps too cold. On your free hand beads try dipping your filler in and out of your puddle while preceding along with your torch
Reply:Freehand has poor tie-in on the sides (i.e. cold lap/lack of fusion). Turn the amps up and work the arc some on the sides in order to tie in. Definitely work more on freehand as you cannot always walk the cup with pipe and tubes.Engineer/CWI/Welder
