Started Welding School

Just started welding class offered by http://www.ouboces.org/ .  Below are pictures from my 2nd class using 7018 1/8" rod set around 100 amps (gauge is missing) in flat position. To me it looks good but I am open to suggestions and tips. I am having trouble in verticle up. See last pic. Reply:Your vert. up looks good from the start til about the 1/2 way point.From there your moving to fast.Try getting the work higher up so the rod isn't blocking your view of the puddle. I also run my 7018 up at about 110-120

Reply:Pretty good start. Dont beat yourself up. It can be very frustrating at times. Save a coupon in your locker or somewhere and dont look at it for 3 or 4 weeks. Then pull it out on a day when you think you're not getting anywhere. You will see that you are progressing.Have funUA Local 598
