Got this mower in for some repairs to the front edge of the deck.First thing was to disassemble the front end, take some measurements, then cut all the bad areas out and replace with new. Cut some new pieces, bent and broke them to fit. Originally I wanted to do it with two pieces, one on the left side and one on the right but I didn't have enough 11 ga. sheet on hand and wasn't going to by a full sheet for a small piece. So the piece on the right side was spliced together to make it work.I put a couple of pieces of 2"x1/4" flat bar on the top of the deck where the upper part of the wheel mount rests. The center roller and its mounts were cleaned up and reused as well as the original front wheel mounts. There had been a piece of 1" square tube on the front as a bumper, I replaced it with a piece of 3/4" round stock that I had on hand instead. I wasn't going to buy a 24' stick of sq. tube for a 5' piece, customer was wanting me to try and keep the price down for him anyways and was O.K. with using what I had available on hand.Reassembled the front end and took it for a test drive around the yard, everything working good so it was taken back apart to be painted. The customer asked that I use rubberized undercoating on it instead of paint, it looked pretty good until I lost my balance while kneeling down to put it back together, still doesn't look too bad but you can see near the roller where I tried to fix the smear somewhat.more pictures next post Attached ImagesI am what I am, Deal with it!If necessity is the Mother of Invention, I must be the Father of Desperation!

Reply:Looks pretty nice. He's lucky that the severe rust was concentrated to the small zone that it was."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt
Reply:Very good job. The only problem I see is that it reminds me that my deck needs repair too.

Reply:Nice Work Dabar.Nice bead, too. I'll have to practice up to make 6011 look that nice.I used to live at the SC coast, we had rust issues there. too. I remember as a kid growing up in upstate NY vehicles would rust from the bottom up from the salted roads, and in SC they'd rust from the top down from the salted air. Don't get me started about the brainiacs who thought it was so cool to drive on the beach. NMB's lifeguard manager used to have a wrangler YJ to run around in. They bought it new and It spent most of every day on the beach from the day it left the dealer. The 1st year they had to replace the exhaust 3 times. The second year they had to scrap it since the frame was shot.Brian LeonardAppalachian Ironworks L.L.C.434 Long Branch Rd, Marshall, NC 28753828 649 9966828 702 [email protected]
