hey guys. I found a 7016 laying around in the welding shop at school..But it has more that just 7016 written on it. It says E 7016/Phoenix Special D. Is this some sort of special military rod?
Reply:Anybody? Ive tried searching on here and other places and cant find a thing
Reply:E7016 is a low hydrogen rod that is vaguely similar to 7018. The flux coating on the outside contains potassium, I think. Penetration is modest. Personally, the few times I've seen it used, I wasn't impressed. I don't think there's much call for it in North America, but it is still used overseas in Asia and Europe.Benson's Mobile Welding - Dayton, OH metro area - AWS Certified Welding Inspector
