I just bought a Northern Industries MIG/Stick 200 Hybrid welder. The welder came with a NEMA 6-50P plug. I'm trying to wire it to 3 wire 50A plug that will fit my generator. Can someone tell me how this plug is wired?I was thinking it had 2 HOT legs and a ground however inside the molded cord there is a black, white and green wire. Wouldn't that white wire be a nuetral?Confused. Could really use some helpJay
Reply:The horseshoe pole will be the ground while the 2 bladed poles will both be hot legs. Che king on a meter the ground to each hot leg will be 120 volt but when both bladed poles are checked crossed you get 240.
