slag- needle scaler and wire wheel?

Hey, I put my mig in the corner for a while and have been doin a bunch of stick welding- So whats easiest and fastest?   Should I just get another 4.5 in grinder and put a wire wheel on it and thats good to go or should I get a needle scaler too?   Thanks,  DaveMiller Synchro250 bought new 1997Millermatic200Miller Bluestar 2E . Reply:A wire wheel is a good way to go for cleaning slag.  A needle scaler or chisel will also remove slag but will mark up the surface of your weld.

Reply:I was just at the hardware store and the 4.5 in wire wheels they have, had a 1/2 in hole thats too small to fit on the grinder.  Will have to look elsewhere.Miller Synchro250 bought new 1997Millermatic200Miller Bluestar 2E . Reply:All I do is stick. I find an old fashioned chipping hammer and a wire brush so much easier than a wire wheel.Scott
