Will 165 amps AC be enough to weld a cast aluminum intake ?. Not trying to repair a brake.Or a crack.Trying to fill in an area that will later be opened up and made larger.IT will also be Pre Heated.
Reply:Probably not..You will need a torch for pre heat.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:And get groovy with your helium.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:I also vote probably not. You really need closer to 200A AC to work with a heavy piece like an intake manifold. Preheating will definitely help, as well as adding helium into the mix. Hell if it's thin enough in that part, you just might be able to get away with it. Let us know how it turns out.
Reply:Zapster,You did not read the last few words i said.Boy do I miss the Linde 440 machines we had in work.I guess I will have to call a friend of mine that just bought one of the new Big Miller Syn.welders.
Reply:Then all should go well..Don't get it TOO hot with the torch and once a puddle is established go and do what you must as fast as you can so you keep the heat in your area..Downtime and looking at it time is also cooling off time.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home. |
