Reply:Getting a lot better. Stick that hand held mask on the shelf, and save it for when you want to teach a kid to weld. You need both hands to work steady, as you figured out!I don't know how others do it, but this is how I steady my hands. I was taught to make a fist with my left hand and place it "knuckles down" and cross my right wrist over the left. But after doing that for a while,. I noticed that I could always see in my bead, exactly when I had to scoot my left hand back. And, I can see that in your last picture. So, this is what I do now... I make a "thumbs up" with my left hand, and put and put it down with my thumb pointing up. Now, I put my right hand so that my left thumb goes where my right index finger meets the palm. Try it right now. You will see that it us very steady and you can still move your hand around almost like it is on a gimbal. But, this is just how I do it. Find what works for you. This method doesn't always work because of the position, but I always try to do some variation of it.Something like this: (Sorry about the stupid piturre. Camera was on auto, and I had it tucked under my chin to hold it.) Attached ImagesLast edited by JC'sWelding; 06-24-2009 at 01:31 AM.
