Reply:Nice work. I was wondering if you made the hinges yourself. My utility trailer got rear ended and the gate was able to be straightened out but i need to replace the hinges.

Reply:Looks nice Ed. My only issue is the significant reduction in strength of the trailer when you installed the side gate. Since most of those ladder style landscape trailers use those side rails as a truss to carry the load, the removal of any portion would seriously affect it's capacity. I'm hoping you strengthened the frame to make up for the loss in some way. I say all this because I can see some new guy thinking this is a great idea and copying it, not realizing the need to reinforce the trailer after he's significantly weakened it.Sorry it's partially a pet peeve of mine. Seeing guys hack off the side rails to make flatbeds for buggy's having no clue they've taken a 5K or 7K trailer and turned it into maybe a 2K trailer at best, and still want to load it as it was originally designed. For those that don't know better, the rails are structural, not decorative or there just to keep things from falling off. Thats why the frames on these are so light compared to standard flatbed designs of the same load rating..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:Good looking job's Ed.
Reply:Looks good.If anything heavy is rolled / driven up that then the expanded metal will bend badly and probably tear out.
