I have a Lincoln PowerMIG 255 with the Magnum 250L gun, and I recently had to order a couple of replacement gas nozzles and a new liner.  According to the Lincoln site, the part number for a 1/2" diameter flush nozzle is KP2742-1-50F.  The nozzle that's in place now is marked, but I can't make out the numbers.  I went online and ordered based on the Lincoln number from American Torch Tip (off eBay), and picked up a pack marked 23-50-F, with a part number E1712T TC.  Unfortunately, these nozzles seem to have a different thread pattern than the nozzle in place.  They will thread on just enough to get started, but will not screw down flush.Question is, did I order the wrong part number, or is it possible there is a problem with the replacement nozzle?  The factory nozzle screws in easily, so I am a little confused.  Thanks!
Reply:American Torch Tip is a third-party manufacturer, so either is possible. Lincoln nozzles are not expensive, you can probably get them at your LWS, or from weldingsupply.com or scottgrossstore.com.If you are unsure about the part number, call Lincoln's support number, 888-935-3877. They are very helpful and should get you set with the right part number for your gun.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:I'd done a little research, and it seemed like the part number called for a 23-50 (at least what information I could find).  Best I can tell, its a Tweco style gun, so consumables should be fairly generic.
Reply:Ok, I was able to get the problem fixed.  The thread pattern for the nozzle is 9/16-18, and I had no trouble running a tap through any of the nozzles (new ones or old).  I think the problem was with the diffuser itself, so I simply chased the threads with a die (and now all the nozzles thread on easily).
Reply:http://www.lincolnelectric.com/asset...0-1/mc1186.pdfFor future reference, here is a pdf file with both "old" numbers and "new" parts numbers listed for the Magnum Pro guns. ***Some of the new parts have a Patent-pending Anti-Seize™ tip and diffuser thread design reduces tip and diffuser seizing.Patent-pending Anti-Seize™Thread DesignFlattened thread profile increases the thread cross-section where heat typically concentrates and tips fail. The result is reduced melting, fusion, seizing and extended contact tip service life. Longer life and fewer tip changes reduces expendable part and labor costs while increasing arc time. To extend contact tip life even more, optional chrome-zirconium Extended Life™ tips are also available.http://www.smitweld.be/products/MagnumPro.aspLast edited by TxDoc; 08-17-2012 at 06:03 AM.TxDoc's Photos Lincoln SP175 PlusLincoln Power Mig 256Lincoln 250 LX Spool Gun Lincoln Precision Tig 225 Hypertherm 600 KMG 2x72 Belt GrinderBaldor 812RE Grinder
Reply:I sometimes  have the same problem at work with the centire fire tips/ nozzle and diffuser. I keep a tap and die in the tray on top of the machine to clean up the threads even on new nozzles.....Mike
