Hex coupler

Does anyone know a steel supplier Can-US, where I can find hex shaft coupler female 1"ID, OD does not matter, call it piping or coupler material as long as it has a one inch hex inside diameter, tried all the local suppliers, everyone has hex shafting but cannot seem to find a supplier anywhere for the coupler material that goes over it or to connect two hex shafts?

Reply:Thanks, its sunday and checking Mcmaster.com but looks like it is small stuff, eskridgeinc.com looks promising will get back, 4-5 inches needed, would like about 1 foot, already thought of using a socket but do not want to sacrifice it, thinking this steel stock must be out there maybe have to check gear makers, as some gears have this id?Thought it would be more common.

Reply:Try a good drive shaft shop alot of the PTO shafts for dump trucks etc used a hex shaft. Bill

Reply:try a tractor supply place. case combines uses a hex coupler to connect the corn header drive to the combine on the 800 series headers.
Reply:Even generic tractor pto shafts are often 1" hex, any farm repair shop should be able to set you up.Also as previously mentioned ....   a driveline shop.  Occasionally one has to lengthen the slider, the internal hex is available, you just gotta know where to look.
Reply:I think that we're going to find out that 1" hex is a freak size.I believe the common pto shaft is 7/8" hex.Pistolnoon could be stuck buying an OEM piece.Good Luck
Reply:The part was discontinued from the mfg'd but I have found that they only discontiue parts that are commonly available, hecnce the search.Thanks for the suggestions.
