Anyone use an Angle Cube?

This device is too expensive to throw at the wall... But I am getting close to doing so. I'm bending 1 1/2" sch 40 with a Bailiegh RDB 175. These particular items I'm bending have four bends all at 90 degrees. The degree of bend is fine.. Getting the end part to lay flat isn't!! I can't seem to find my happy place. I know its me, not the machine or the Angle Cube.. Just need some pointers.
Reply:Not sure of your description of your problem, but in the electrical trade we use a level, perhaps this tool of yours and our tool are one and the same.  Snug your pipe/tube into your bending machine so that it is supported by the bending machine. Mark the pipe/tube where your four bends are to be made. Find a location close to the location of your last (fourth) bend that will not interfere with your bending equipment.  Place the level at this location of the pipe and make the level read O degrees.Snug it up so it will not turn. Now your pipe/tube is level.  Do not remove your level until all bends are made. Make your bends. Your pipe/tube will meet exactly together. Reply:Do the (4) 90* bends make a box shape or are you flipping the part 180* at any point?Also, once you start bending, how are you supporting the pipe? Reply:Simple question ----- Is your bender level in both directions?Lincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20. They come and go. Growing partial to the "Short Hoods" in my old age. Last count on Short Hoods was 13 in possession.
Reply:The parts we're bending for now, are making a recatangle, for handrails, starting at a cut lentgh of 175". And my problem is the end product is not lying flat (as I'm sure it should). As for supporting the pipe, my helper fella holds it while bending. I have had better luck with the $12 magnetic level. And I just leveled the machine in both directions AFTER bending 8 pieces out of 10... that seemed to help some, but only with the magnetic (less expensive) level.

Reply:the seam is slightly different thickness, hardness, yeild properties, etc...  so if it's not directly in line with the bend it will twist the tube slightly through the bends.  Put the seam facing the inside of the bend.   On the outside the extreem case is that it could tear open, but mostly just look worse, less smooth.
Reply:First off I suck at tube bending. And usually have to do it several times to get it right so I'm no help there. But the thought that entered in my head, what in the world is an angle cube? Reply:You can stuff that foolish thing. Start off by punching a couple dead centre marks, and making a CL. Use a smart level if you want to cheat, or a regular angle of the dangle finder off said CL with a straight edge.  It is not rocket science, a little common sense, and basic geometry go a long way.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
