Hey fellasim a second year apprentice and i recently bought a 200amp acdc tig for on the side jobs i have no problem at all welding mild steel or s/s but today i just bought some aluminium rods because everyone is hitting me up to fix there tinnys do intercooler systems etc and im having sucsess at all her are my first 2 al tig welds from what i can gather u have to let it heat up then i try to make a puddle and move on but there are so many variables i have no clue where to start i set my ac balance to 50/50 and leave pulse off im using the 2.2mm 5 series filler and 2.4mm thoriated tugensten and them welds are on a bit of 50 by 50 shs.Here are the picshttp://img295.imageshack.us/i/25082009001.jpg/http://img81.imageshack.us/i/25082009.jpg/http://img81.imageshack.us/i/25082009002.jpg/^thats my setup little red buz box in corner 140amp i its duty cycle is 80% at 140 not to bad ey =]
Reply:Punctuation is your friend.. It makes it a lot easier to read your questions. It might be helpful seeing if you can find a local community college to see if they have a welding course you can take.
