Hey guys!I'll be welding (GTAW) together aluminium in a full-open corner joint. The aluminium thickness is 2mm or 0.078in.Could you give me some advice on what size filler rod I should use for this weld?Best regardsErik

Reply:Usually filler size is a matter of preference rather than necessity. A competent welder can use many different sizes of filler to accomplish the same task but they usually prefer one or the other.1/16 is probably what I would use on an open corner joint. Just make sure to dab it in/out quick or it will ball up and just cause problems.Have we all gone mad?
Reply:start small work bigger, i know that is kind of vauge but i have always had options in filler size. start with the 1/16 like others have suggested
Reply:Thanks for all the help! Then I'll get som 1/16" filler. My expreience when Tig welding (newbie) is that I find it's easier using a smaller size filler and adding more frequently but that's just me |
