Tainted tungsten

If you touch the tungsten to something and blacken the end, do you grind the edge to clean it up after sharpening or do you break it off and sharpen. Thank you.

Reply:i never touch the tungsten to the puddle but often when i weld something that is zinc plated (washers or nuts) it pops and puts a nice big glob right on my tungsten. i have no choice but to break it off and grind it. if i werent to break it off i would be there all day trying to grind the big ball down.Miller Syncrowave 180 sdMillermatic 180Lincoln Pro-Cut 55Bridgeport vertical mill
Reply:If you stop touching the Tungsten to the part or filler you will avoid that problem...One little touch and it's stop and regrind......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:I would look into getting "black" nuts and bolts.  you would be money ahead in the long run vs the cost of constantly having to replace the tungstenVantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
