Looking at the welding supply they want 165 for an empty smaller bottle...there has to be a cheaper bet.  Anybody?ThermalArc 181i | Lotos WS200

Reply:Jones welding in Valdosta has been very reasonable for tanks and metal
Reply:If you go the Craigslist route you will need to know which are "owner" tanks and which are  "lease only". You can find this out at your LWS, but it can get complicated. Not knowing which ones you can "own" and get refilled or exchanged could lead you into buying a tank that you cannot use because it still belongs to the company that leased it to the guy you bought it from. When you are just getting started and aren't well informed of which tanks are "owner" and which are "lease only" it will be best, safest, and cheapest route for you to lease a tank from your LWS (local welder supply). There are many people on Craigslist that are trying to sell leased tanks to the un-informed. Don't be scammed. Later, when you are more familiar with the tanks, you can look for the right ones at the right price and buy then. We leased the first year and then gradually replaced the leases with our own tanks as we found them. I never paid more than 1/3 of the cost of a new tank. Keep in mind if you buy a tank new, as soon as you need the tank refilled, they will likely be exchanging your pretty new tank for a beat up used tank, unless you want to wait a week or two for your new tank to be sent off, filled, and then returned. In just a few years we owned all of our tanks and had returned all of the leased tanks.  You will likely have to pay the lease for a year in advance plus the cost of the gas  when you begin the lease, then pay the annual lease rate again if you still have the tank after a year.In our case the lease worked out to about $7/month per tank.  If you return it in less than a year they will refund the unused portion of your lease based on the months of the lease not used. If you need more gas during your lease you will only need to pay for the refill each time and they will usually just exchange the empty tank for a full one, as most LWS do not have onsite refill capability.
