Hi All,   I am trying to find the best air cooled tigs there are. I can't get very good life out of them it seems. There are lots of new products out there and was just wondering if anyone has found any that last, and use common consumables.
Reply:Are you talking about the torch or actual machine? I'm not to sure what it is you wanna know. Weldcraft AIR cooled torches are great from my experience.Dynasty 200DXNo MIG as of yet....
Reply:oh yea.... I was talking torch set, tig rig. Light weight for tube welding.Heavy weight for 1/8 tungsten.Last edited by Cofe; 09-18-2009 at 03:40 PM.
Reply:I have 3 torches.  A heavy duty one that will take all the amps, and 2 smaller ones for tube and lower amp welding.  ( one with long and one with short backs ).The bigger one is a 26 series torch and i think the others are 17 series torches.

This is normal, the torches are notmeant for continuous duty.3-All of the above is 'why' liquid cooled torchesare preferred or required for heavy use.

Reply:I am tube welding in very confined boilers. At the present it is cost effective to use gas cooled lightweight torches so I can move fast. A water cooled torch would slow me down too much to compensate. If I were in a "shop" water cooled is my choice.Last edited by Cofe; 09-18-2009 at 10:48 PM.6"XX P5P8 6G

Reply:on the higher amperage stuff, I use a CS-300. It is a weldcraft 300 amp dc air cooled torch.u need the extra  it is only available in two piece power cable and gas hose, but it is nice for stuff that you need to run hot and not have the cooler2 Trailblazer 302's2 HF251-D1'sDynasty 200DXLincoln Powermig 140CHypertherm Powermax 30Airco Torches out the a$$

Reply:i know the feeling about small and lightweight.  i did however burn one up the other day doing a bunch of aluminum piping at a jobsite in peoria illinois.  Other than that, the 26 flexhead seems to take a preety good beating(heating) and keep going2 Trailblazer 302's2 HF251-D1'sDynasty 200DXLincoln Powermig 140CHypertherm Powermax 30Airco Torches out the a$$
