Today I was visiting a client for work...........They are a country club and my company handles their trash and recycling, which is why I was there....... Lat week I was picking up steel for my cabinet build and just happened to trip over some metal that had his country club name on it...... so i mentioned it today..... just making conversation........He asked if I was still welding and I said I was still loving it and so was back in school again to learn more.......He said he had a project for me to do...... a cabinet for propane and freon tanks..... like the ones you see at Lowes out front.........I'm working on the design and trying to figure costs so I can give him a price...... if I get the job..... it will be my very first commercial type paid job making stuff...... I'm pretty excited about that since I started a DBA a few months ago to be able to expense stuff....... and it would be cool to have real paid work.... as a side business.........Question is.......... anything I should know about building this type of thing from a legal standpoint? Can I just build it and call it good, or should I be worried about OSHA or other such stuff?First non-name plate job for my hobby as a welding student and I would hate to FUBAR it......Thoughts?Precision TIG 185 and MP 210Bobcat 225NTCutmaster 42O/A tanks.... 2 Argon tanks...... 2 C25 TanksFacebook...... Reply:Design wise, A steel expanded metal cage with an angle iron frame would work skookum as it is still open to the air, but keeps people out!
Reply:Here's what I searched. WOW ! There is a wide variety out there. Is there any other casework etc. where this is gonna go that you may have to match ? Just wondering. If it is by itself, even better. You can't go wrong. Choose wisely ! I heard that somewhere .http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=...cage&FORM=IGRE
Reply:Congrats man. You will find the best jobs in the strangest of places. Never be worried about thinking outside the box. And always look for the odd job that most don't want and after a while, the jobs will be beating down your door, and you will become known as "the guy that will help," Thats not always a bad position to be in. Especially when you are free to take the job or pass.
