Does anyone know where I can get a blank WPS (for free) online?
Reply:Just call, email, or write the American Welding Society in Florida. Also make sure there are no exsisting prequalified welding procedures for the job you have.No use spinning your wheels for nothing.Google it. Also http://www.wpsamerica.com/welding_software_demo3.phpBTW they may ask you what it is for.Depending on the state you are in and what the job is, there may be differentrequirments.Last edited by Donald Branscom; 09-25-2008 at 08:14 PM.AWS certified welding inspectorAWS certified welder
Reply:Actually I am looking to use AWS prequalified procedures. Is there somewhere I can find a library of prequalified procedures for free. Someone told me Linclon has them on their website but I didn't find any. I also googled but had no luck.
Reply:The Lincoln program is no longer sold but is probably floating around on the internet. AWS prequalified procedures are typically prepared by the company that uses them using the rules contained in AWS D1.1 Chapter 3. You can prepare your own for free. The content of the WPS is more important than the layout of the form. The process of filling in a prequalified WPS is somewhat more involved than "filling in the blanks".AWS has blank forms as contained in D1.1 here http://www.aws.org/w/a/technical/sample_forms.htmlI have attached a blank prequalified WPS form from CSpecs WeldOffice Software. The software can be expensive but is good for managing large numbers of documents or efficiently creating code compliant PQR's WPS's amd WPQ's. The Demo versions can be downloaded here. http://cspec.com/support/csp-gen002.htm . Here is a process specific format that contains most of the variables required by AWS however the end user is responsible for assuring the content is all there and correct. Even the published AWS Form N-1 leaves some info out that should be contained on a prequalified WPS.http://weldingdata.com/pwpsgMAW.jpg for GMAW/FCAWhttp://weldingdata.com/pwpssMAW.jpg for SMAWOne other option is to purchase a Standard WPS from AWS . Here is a good article from Walt Sperko regarding SWPS's http://files.asme.org/asmeorg/Codes/...ation/1036.pdf The SWPS's can be purchased from AWS. Here is one with a price https://www.awspubs.com/product_info...roducts_id=362 I have two un-issued SWPS's I received from someone in payment for some work and have never signed or issued them. I wonder if I can sell them ?? $$. Attached ImagesAWSPWPS.pdf (34.2 KB, 2375 views)Last edited by gaustin; 09-26-2008 at 12:29 AM.Have a nice dayhttp://www.weldingdata.com/
