anybody know of a source for -internal- parts to MIG Euro connectors? I'm gonna guess euro connectors are all the same "externally" and possibly "externally dimensionally, too" but NOT the same internally. can anybody confirm this?I can find all sorts of entire, complete 'kits' to install (or convert to) a euro-connector, but I just need one internal part, for mine...my euro connector, ON the machine has a small 'sort of greasy feeling' black plastic tube INSIDE the brass tube. the brass tube I'm referring to is the one about middle-center of this image. I assume it needs to be replaced, I had it out (actually, I blew it out of the brass tube when I stuck a blowgun in the front of the euro-connector and pulled the trigger, it 'stopped against' the feed rolls). the OUTSIDE of the dang thing is scored. the inside looks 'way big' too...I'm sure it's worn. having a worn one will cause me some birdnesting, I'm sure. I do have the owners manual and 'parts blowup' drawing for this machine and those euro connector parts are not shown in the list of parts or in the drawings...do ALL 'machine end' MIG euro connectors use the same inner plastic tube there? or anybody know who sells the internal 'bits and pieces' for euro connectors?I'm assuming the 'end goal' here is to NOT have that tube be electrically conductive (right?) or, otherwise, a metal tube of the correct dimensions might be far easier to find...(but possibly a 'major hazard' for bubba here, aye?)again, guys, thanks very much for your help dave
Reply:If this is an Airco unit, which I assume it is, you might try ESAB. I had an Airco Dip/Stick 160 years ago and was able to get an owners manual for it from them. Rumor has it that ESAB acquired the Airco units several years ago, not really sure. If true, you may be able to get parts for your unit from them to. Reply:Dave-welder,Both the metal tube and the wire are electrically hot when the gun is triggered, so I'm not sure that the liner would have to be non-conductive. I think it's more about providing a low friction guide, rather than electrical insulation.Can't you substitute a short piece of liner conduit, or maybe nylon tube, or whatever it is that you keep in your junk drawer?Good Luck
Reply:smaw,I've tried ESAB, and they provided me MY manual, too . my very FIRST question, for them, (after the manual) was "can you provide me any other parts for this machine whatsoever?" to which they said (flat out) 'no' the esab 'name' is on my front panel ID plate, line 3, but the side panels say airco in VASTLY bigger letters...so "who knows"?denrep,looked thru my "odd pieces of pipe and tubing" box, found nothing small enough. haven't (yet) tried the local plastics store...tried looking online for plastic tubing, though, and this stuff is 'pretty small' compared to most offerings, too....(which I'd have to buy 20 feet of, or more)this makes me deeply regret tossing my my MUCH bigger box of plastic pipe and small tubings, which I kept around for decades (f it had a far more complete collection of good junk and useless trash to choose from). did it on on one of those (very rare) 'oh hell why AM I keeping this krap around ANYway for all these DECADES' days the search continues. think I'd -prefer- plastic over metal anything...'just for safety', maybe...I kind of think that the plastic tubing in there was SO dern soft it may've actually been the same -exact- plastic these dang wheels are made of (that pick up every chip and shaving on a shop floor)thanks guys :-) |
