Brother and i did a refit on a 63 idealarc 250 he rescued from a cement plant, thought you might be interested in a pic or two.there is only one before pic as i never thought to take a pic till we had it back together.the floor took almost as much paint as the welder.Felon Attached ImagesLast edited by Felonyass Monk; 01-11-2011 at 05:33 PM.Caution lurker lives here" hmmm That is serious, pass the ganja and pick up a 24 of MGD"

Reply:Idealarc 250 AC DC you cannot kill them. mine was submerged in salt water during hurricaneGoerge, still welds every day, but no cooling fan. Yours sure looks sweet ,you do nice work. Jim in the Keys. But you have turn the wheel left to raise the heat ?
Reply:Nice! How many feet worth of leads do you have there?!Buy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line.

Reply:Wish I had the ampacity to run one of these. I suppose I do, but the pole with the 200amp service is pretty far away from the "shop", and it serves another home on the property with heavy draw.Pole which I use is 100amp service, and runs my house too"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Originally Posted by Stick-manDoesn't the output matter? I hardly ever go over 150A when stick welding. Heck the majority is around 110 to 120A. Wouldn't that make it able for you to use one? I only have 100A at my house and once brought my Shopmaster there to do a project in the garage. At max output it sucks like 90A input, but again, it worked at the output I was using.
Reply:Hey farmer sam, I have the same machine with similar electrical service to yours. It should work fine at your place, as this machine will weld almost anything with 1/8 7018. Best, Ralph
Reply:Hello Sam My shop is 100 amp service.I have a dedicated 220 line #6 wire for the welders with a 50 amp fuse.I had a tm300 on this line for a few years and never had an issue. You should be good to go,but wouldnt you need about two miles of lead for the work you doFelonCaution lurker lives here" hmmm That is serious, pass the ganja and pick up a 24 of MGD"
Reply:Nice job on the Idealarc. Now it just needs a wheel cart under it with cable hangers. They burn 6010 very nice as well. I run mostly 7018 and 6010 with mine. They are also a very good scratch start tig welder with DC- polarity.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720 |
