Does MAPP require a different regulator and CGA fittings and hoses, or can one use the same regulator, fittings and hoses as for acetylene?- MondoMember, AWSLincoln ProMIG 140Lincoln AC TombstoneCraftsman Lathe 12 x 24 c1935Atlas MFC Horizontal MillCraftsman Commercial Lathe 12 x 36 c1970- - - I'll just keep on keepin' on.
Reply:As far as I'm aware, regulators for all fuels are the same. If the fuel requires more than 15 psi, you may need to put a different gage on your regulator. Hoses are all compatible. Propane requires T-grade hoses for longest service. Propane will cause lower grade hoses to deteriorate sooner. If you already have the lower grade hoses, just run them until they deteriorate and replace with T-grade.
Reply:T-grade for MAPP and a Fuel gas regulator, not an Acetylene Regulator. Single Stage. JGSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. :
Reply:Didnt they quit making MAPP?
Reply:I inquired at my LWS... Right. MAPP has been replaced with Propylene. The propadine that was used to produce MAPP is more valuable in plastics manufacturing making MAPP gas no longer economically viable.-MondoMember, AWSLincoln ProMIG 140Lincoln AC TombstoneCraftsman Lathe 12 x 24 c1935Atlas MFC Horizontal MillCraftsman Commercial Lathe 12 x 36 c1970- - - I'll just keep on keepin' on.

Reply:MAPP was produced by DOW CHEM, IN FREEPORT, TX AND DISTRIBUTED BY CENTRAL WS, UNTIL AIR GAS BOUGHT THEM AND THEY QUIT MAPP BECAUSE OF PRICE AND WENT TO PROPANE, which is the best all around fuel gas. JGSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. : |
