need gift ideas for welder

Hey everybody,My boyfriend is a welder (shield) i dont know much about welding but his birthday is coming up and I am trying to figure out what to get him. something he will actually use daily (or close to it).I know gloves is something he'll use a lot, but I dont know what brand or type to get him, what kind do you think are best and why?  and do you have any other ideas of gifts to get him??Thanks for your help everybody. :-)
Reply:A gift card from the local welding supply or at the local industrial supply house would be nice.  That way he can pick out something he would not normally buy or a style of something he likes.Dan D.

Reply:The gift card is a good idea. Without knowing the type of welding he does, and what his inventory of spares might be, it's probably best to let him make that choice.That said, it's always nice to have something to present along with a gift card, maybe some safety gear along with a "take good care of yourself" message, specifics of which I'll leave to you.

Reply:I would go with a MILLER 302 Trailblazer. Now he has a generator too for when the power goes out.  He will REALLY LOVE YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I know, this is out of your price range. A soapstone holder is always handy, and you misplacethem. Depending on his type of work, a carbide tip scriber would be my tool of choice . Maybe a inspection mirror or a pocket telescopic magnet is handy too. And, you can always use clamps.

Gloves as well.Maybe a nice welding bag to carry his tools in.A new Welder.  The list can go on and on..   Give us a budget and we can help narrow down your search..
