Upgraded my little welding trailer. Added oxy/acetylene tank holders. Been meaning to do this for a while because I had no way to bring these tanks in to be swapped. I wanted to buy some stock to do it with, getting the stock kept being pushed to the back burner. So I decided to make it out of bed frames. I think it came out very well. Attached Images
Reply:Very nice job!
Reply:Looks great man!! How busy do you stay with your setup?? It looks pretty ingenious, a small car, with cheap insurance, and fuel costs, and a small trailer, and you can fix so much stuff...[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. Reply:My only concern would be if you get rear ended and it happens all the time. I can see those tanks going flying. I guess you can't protect against everything. Nice framework, I just don't like it at the very end of your trailer.
Reply:Keep a close eye on all the welds on the bedframe parts. Since bedf rame is so hard i've always thought they'd tend to crack easily in the haz if subjected to vibration like on the tlr and the welder running.                                    Jmho,                                                mikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw

Reply:One thing that probably would help is to mount another pair of brake lights at the top on your framework, it should get their attention. Good luck.
Reply:There is that 200lb+ block of steel jutting out aswell  I thought about putting lights on the top bar. After all the concern I definitely will now. Thanks for all the input guys.
Reply:I think you'll be ok. I've built lots of stuff w/ bedframes, just never wanted to trust it where it is subject to vibration. It's good you used lots of bolts also.                                              MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:I would raise up those tail lights! It would be bad news if this rig got rear ended. Also what about the oxy/actylene hose crossing over the top of the welding machine?I would want to get that welding machine away from the welding gas.Could you have the welding machine on one side and the gas bottles on the other side.?Ot turn the welding machine sideways on the trailer? The welding machine hot exhausts points towards the Acytelene tank!I would switch the position of those two tanks.Just some thoughts.Last edited by Donald Branscom; 01-18-2011 at 04:50 PM.AWS certified welding inspectorAWS certified welder
Reply:As near as i can tell from the pics the exhaust is a safe distance from the acet tank.                                MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:Its atleast a foot forward. Whats the concern that the exhaust was blowing straight onto the tank? Or that the muffler gets red hot and could be a source of combustion?
