Gas welding fittings and things are they universal?

Are the threads and fittings on gas welding epuipment universal worldwide . For example say I want to buy a quility gas welding torch but they don't sell it here in new zealand so I buy it online from america or somewhere will it fit the hoses and fittings here or are they different from place to place I would imagine these days these things would have be pretty universal?
Reply:I know O2 tank fittings can be different. British oxygen fittings are not the same as the standard CGA 540 fitting used in the US.I also know Europeans use different gas fittings for breathing air (200bar or 300 bar DIN) vs those used in the US..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
