I made this small twister a little while ago I was going to make baskets with it but getting the stock I need out here is more trouble than its worth so I just buy them already made so I changed it up a bit to twist scroll's and flat bar I got the wheel of a wrecked western star at work Creative metal Creative metal Facebook
Reply:looks like a handy peice. nice reuse of already available parts. Why is it so hard for you to get stock for projects? too far to the supplier ? I am very used to just bopping into the local welding shop/ steel supplier and getting almost anything i need
Reply:cool project! But ya need one of those old "death knobs" on the wheel...(Retired) Professional firefighter, amateur everything else I try to do...Oh yeah: Go Big Red! (You know: one of the 12 members of the Big 10 cuz we left the 10 members of the Big 12...)
Reply:Very Cool indeed.... Will have to 'modify' my existing POS.Cheers,Miller Diversion 165120 amp Buzz BoxVictor Oxy/Ace Oxy/LPGSmith "Little" Oxy/LPGHypertherm Powermax 30Lot's of Misc. tools n' crap....
Reply:wow, that's either a gigantic steering wheel or you're bending very small strips of metal i always wondered how those twists are made, now i know.
Reply:Do you have to apply heat to the bar that you are twisting? Or just use a big wheel?Nothing is fool-proof, to the substantially talented fool!Help me, I can't drink all of this beer myself.
Reply:Great job!!!! Im building a twister for square thats alot like that, I hope it turns out as good as yours!!! Thanks for sharing.
Reply:in pic 4.. the first one showing the modification for flat bar.. it appears that the small scroll at the rotating end would hit the vertical plate.. but i can see where the part holding the flat bar has been extended longer and looks like a little grinding where the vertical is welded to the tube...to permit rotation....correct?i am in the process of building one of these too...
Reply:in the 4th pic were you can see the grinding was were the plate was longer I did give it a couple of well placed hits wuth the hammer to make sure the scroll didn't hit I made it in the first place for making twisted baskets but the stock is just to hard to get in my area so i changed it so i could twist scrolls with it it you want any more details eg sizes and what not let me know and I will post them for you cheers NeilCreative metal Creative metal Facebook |
