Just as the title says.......Is it possible to achieve spray transfer on a smaller 110v mig.....such as an HH140, or MM140, or the lincoln 135?I searched the forum, but didn't come up with any results.Thanks.....
Reply:SundownIII had a very good post about this on the Hobart forum. here's the link http://www.hobartwelders.com/weldtal...ad.php?t=31694I am what I am, Deal with it!If necessity is the Mother of Invention, I must be the Father of Desperation!
Reply:Thanks for the link Dave.I was messing around with my HH140 yesterday...experimenting with voltage and wire speed on some .125" steel. The gas I was using was Prax Stargon (90% Ar / 8% CO2 / 2% O2). At certain points, I would lose the "frying bacon" sound and it turned to a "hiss" sound. I wasn't sure if this was spray or not.....I didn't think spray was possible with such a machine.
Reply:The short answer is no, you don't have enough juice to spray with a 110v mig.You were probly just getting into globular transfer, which comes before spray transfer range.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:I would be surprised if any 110 mig could achieve spray transfer. Even some 220 unit wont make it without special gases and even then it is pretty limited. The Miller MM212 will make it with the right gas but even it has a limited duty cycle.Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
Reply:Yeah, that had to be globular transfer. The little guys just don't have the voltage needed to get into spray. Even if they did have the volts, they don't have enough amperage to make it useful or even usable.QamuIs Heg qaq law' lorvIs yInqaq puS
Reply:The guys with the HF 90a will probably argue with you. They think those machines are power housesTim Beeker.
Reply:Dang...wish I had known that. I could have saved a lot of clams getting that one over my Esab 300+ amp machines.QamuIs Heg qaq law' lorvIs yInqaq puS |
