Hello everyone and Happy New Year to you all. I figured it was about time I got back to say hello and contribute to the site again. Ive had my Kubota tractor for two seasons now but still only got 138 hours on it. I use my tractor strictly for snow clearing. That being said I've only been out once so far this winter plowing snow and there's no snow on the ground here now at all.Over the holidays I managed to get some time to myself in the shop so I fabricated a PTO guard for the rear PTO and while I was at that I decided to build a storage box up in the front where the weights would normally hang.Well as I got going at it I decided to add a few other items to it such as cornering LED quad strobe lights, Stainless steel locking latch, Gas shock for the lid, Machined hinges with grease nipples and It was built out of 3/16th steel. I wanted the latch to the side of the unit for easy access. The bottom is complete as well and could act as a skid pan if need be. I also wanted to fabricate grill guards for the LED lights. It weighs in at almost 60 lbs. There were a few challenges such as the grill guard and how I was going to integrate the box around that but I did it and I just got it installed so I figured Id show it to you.I did a YouTube video of the complete build so if interested here it is: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTI-qoXzqok[/ame] Attached ImagesMiller 302 Trailblazer/Custom TrailerMillermatic 350P/Spool gunMillermatic 252Miller Spectrum 875Miller Dynasty200DxHypertherm Powermax 85Tracker CNC 4X8 Pro Table (Down Draft)Visit us @ www.specialtyrepairscustommods.com

Reply:Nice work (like usual).  What,  no oilite bushing for the PTO shield hold-up pin?    Well, maybe a Delrin bushing would work alright there.      The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...
Reply:4Shorts...fantastic work..watching the results of your fabrication skills is always enjoyable. Keep em coming. One thing I noticed is if you added a spring on the retaining pin below the frame and above the rubber stopper it would prevent the pin from jumping around when not engaged. Just a thought. Reply:Hohum, just another on of Paul's projects..... Fantastic as usual!!!Paul, how do you do your labelling. Are the Kubota labels done as stencils or are the painted on? They just really cap the whole thing off and truly tie it together.I knew you would make frequent use of that oblong punch......Now all I have to do is convince my wife to let me buy and Edwards iron worker.......and attend your metal working classes on the Rock.Sign on East Texas payphone: Calls to God 40 cents......it's a local call...

Reply:As usual, you do very nice work. looking at this gives me a few idea's for the aux back up lights for plowing on the truck. For now they are just some heavy angle but the exposed wires look like cra@p. I think some boxes like you made would tidy things up. Thanks..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:A very slick job on both ends of the tractor. As soon as I saw your post I opened it because I knew it would be of first class work. I have work to do with my little Kubota and some additional projects to build that I have dreamed up for it. It's just sitting in the barn now as I am unable do much of anything but browse the internet and watch TV for several more weeks. Seeing  your project just makes me want to get out and get something done.
Reply:Damn those outside pictures look absolutely awesome.........I REALLY LIKE THE LOOK OF THE FRONT!!!I need some chain storage on my Montana and you have given me inspiration for a location. I am also desperately in need of a bush guard for the front as the damn pine tree branches have a habit of punching in the front grill.Question: my fenders on my Montana are blue plastic and really faded by the sun. How does one go about restoring the colour (Canadian spelling).Last edited by Stampeder; 01-12-2011 at 03:52 PM.Sign on East Texas payphone: Calls to God 40 cents......it's a local call...

Reply:Awesome work, I do think I would rip them off in short order but I use mine. Every time I take mine out I have to remove the ti-rod guard and straighten it back up with the vice, sledge and anvil.
Reply:Oh my gosh. That poor tractor needs a vacation in the worst kind of way Well I guess your using it for what you needed it for. Reply:There is a story where the tractor is stuck. I crossed a wet ditch to do some work on the other side. At the end of the day I had busted 2 hydraulic lines rendering the backhoe useless. I kept my speed up getting across the wet ditch but it was not enough. I got stuck. I usually push myself out with the backhoe but it was not only dead in the water, it was anchoring 1/2 way down in the bog.The following day neighbor tractors would not budge me. The following day we had several inches of spring rains coming and the tractor was in the worst possible spot. With nothing else to work with I hooked up the chain tie downs and started wrenching. With a cheater bar I could move it one inch an hour. I broke one log chain and the second kept it from going back in. 7 hours latter I was out. I felt good for two days. After that I had bad shoulder pain which kept me up all night for a week straight and took 2 months to get back to normal. Since then I bought a large wench. When we get the CNC laser going I will make a mount for it.
Reply:Sick work, and for a true new rookie like me, very inspiring stuff!
Reply:Nice work, I respect people that pay attention to detail. Worked with too many who dont. (probably why they dont work with me anymore haha)Good job!GOW, you need one of those tank carrier helicopters to lift ya out.   Good mudding pics!So when are you going to see a bucket build on that poor tractor of yours?

Reply:Originally Posted by 4shorts. As for the storage being a bumper. Well it's got the blade up front. If the blade isn't on the bucket will be so what ever hits the storage box got to go through the bucket or blade first. .
