I am thinking about trying out the CWEng exam through AWS. I just recently did a 6 month self study on the CWI/CWE exam and passed first time. I realize that the CWEng exam is a ton more work and studying, and the body of knowledge is extensive, but I think its something I can handle with enough studying. I almost have the 15 years of experience neccessary to qualify for the exam. I also realize that this is only a certification through AWS, not a professional license for welding engineering. My question to any body who has attempted or passed the exam is what has it helped you accomplish in your career. In other words was it worth it to take the exam or was it a complete waste of your free time. I have seen alot of job postings on Career Builder seeking welding engineers and they state that they are looking for someone with a 4 year degree in welding engineering or the equivalent in experience. Could the AWS CWEng be considered the extra experience needed to land an engineering job. Any information will help aswell as any info on NDT level 3 certification in various methods. Thanks ahead of time.AWS CWI/CWEASNT NDT Level 2 PT/MTAWS Certified Welder(aerospace) |
