what are the dwell time settings used for?

Hello,  I have always stick welded.  But now I would like to learn to mig weld.  I have not problems stick welding anything in any position.I have a 380  volt single phase mig welder. It has a dial for voltage 1 - 6It has a dial for dwell timeit has a dial for wire feed speedit has a dial for weld timeit has a dial for  manual auto stitch spotvoltage I understandwire speed I understandDwell time settings no clueweld time settings no cluemanual auto stitch spot I understand.straight Argon gas bottle on the unit.I don't know why I even plugged this thing in but I did so now I must learn how to use it correctly.I love to weld with stick welder!

Reply:thank you for the answer.  I just have to figure out what I should set the gas at.  I would like to use it to weld some square tube 1/8 inch wall thickness.  Would I be better off to get a bottle of 75/25 for mild steel welding?
