What are the most common .125 or .0625 steel sheet sizes?Do they make 8x10?Where can I find weight per square foot?
Reply:Brendonv, Most steel yards give out booklets with this information in them. Try RYERSON.COM. Hope this helps. Best Bob
Reply:www.kingmetals.com was sending out free reference guides at one time. Not sure if they still are or not, worth a shot.

Reply:I bought an 8x20x.120 once upon a time. I think it was 8'? It was for sure 20'. Had to come direct from the steel mill. Call some of the steel yards until you find someone willing to actually help you by finding out what is actually available in uncommon sizes.

Reply:4'x8' is very common in my neck of the woods. You will probably pay a premium for 8' x 10'.Thermal Arc 210 FabricatorHypertherm PM 45and lots of other tools the wife doesn't know about
Reply:I buy a lot of 4x8 and a little 4x10. Mostly 16 gauge (.0625") and a little 12 gauge as well..125" is 11 gauge. a 4x10 sheet of .125 (1/8") is going to have some weight.I spent close to $5000 at my steel supplier last year, 90% of that was sheet metal.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720
Reply:Thanks guys.I can't believe how much the 11 gauge weighs, wow!16 gauge will be fine. Gotta call the local guy to see what sizes they stock.
Reply:I've gotten 5' wide sheets from my supplier on occasion. It's been a while, but IIRC we picked up a sheet of 5x10 from them for one job. I know we got a 5x8' sheet when we refloored the dump truck. 9' bed and we laid down 1 4x8 and 1 5x8 to cover the floor..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:metals depot is showing 4x10 and 5x10. 8x10 would be nice but i need it bent so I don't think that would fit in a brake anyway.
Reply:The big distributor in town has light gauge in 4 x 10 sheets. Medium gauge (10-14ga) in 4 x 8 or 4 x 10 and plate 3/16" and up in 4 x 8. It's going to depend first on what the mill they use produces, then, if they choose to stock that size. If you know who you are going to use, best to give them a shout and see what sizes they stock.Enough stuff to build and repair wrinkled up race cars or bring a classic back to life...
Reply:anything under 1/4" you can usually get leveled from coil in any length you want (within reason) if your willing to pay a premium. Two years ago we did 42 316L stainless steel plating tanks that were 72" x15 all seamless. just welded at the corners. had to shop around but got it found and done. 4'x8', 4'x10', 4'x12' are the most common stock sizes around here. several suppliers also stock 5' and 6' wide in carbon steel in various gauge thickness.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
